Monsoon Proof Shiny Black Doc Martins

posted on 24 December 2011

I bought my favorite shoes more than seven years ago. I was out shopping with my friend Amanda and we saw a Doc Martin Shoe shop at the mall that was having a going out of business sale. The shoes were really cheap, about eighty percent off! We both bought the same style shoes: a shiny black lace up shoe with a thick tall sole. I'm already taller than my husband so I don't need the added height (he calls me a moose when I wear them) but since it's not a pointy heel I don't mind being extra tall. They are reasonably comfortable and look nice for when I'm teaching but the thing I really love is that they are waterproof. Since I live in South China now and often walk to work, I've ruined a lot of shoes during monsoon season. The streets tend to flood with even a moderate rainstorm and I've got to get safely through all that nastiness and still look decent when I get there. My Docs are the only shoe I've got that is up to the task, and they are still going strong seven years in!

Finally: Air Jordan 6, Black and Infrared

posted on 12 August 2011

These days, because of my size, I'm restricted to looking for shoes for big feet, but when I was about 14, Nike released the Air Jordan 6's. I remember a few kids at school had them, and I thought they were some of the coolest shoes ever made. I loved the design, style and color of them. The Bulls were my favorite team and I watched Jordan win the championship that year. This made the shoes even better in my mind. Fast forward about 18 years. I have a decent shoe collection now as it's been something I have been interested in for quite some time. (As you can tell by the above story.) I FINALLY got a pair of Jordan 6's this year after looking and looking for a decent price. They are black and infrared, in my opinion one of the best color combinations available for these shoes. I was VERY happy when they arrived and look forward to showing them off.
